About the Author
Gbara Awanen, recently retired senior Nigerian diplomat, received his doctorate in International Relations from the Geneva School of Diplomacy and International Relations, Geneva, Switzerland. His diplomatic postings included tours at the Nigerian High Commission, London, and the Permanent Mission of Nigeria to the United Nations Office in Geneva, Switzerland. His last foreign assignment was as Head of the Political Section at the Embassy of Nigeria, Washington, D.C., United States of America.
As well as diplomacy, he has extensive experience in public policy, security and strategic risk assessment. He is an alumnus of both the Nigerian Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Nigeria’s premier public policy think tank, and the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, where he received the Senior Manager in Government Certificate in 2016.
